Firstly, let me start off by giving you some well earned credit 🙂
You have chosen to be on an entrepreneurial path, a path of stepping out of your comfort zone and taking a risk completely on yourself and what you potentially can create with that.
That’s not the easiest decision to make.
If it were, mostly everyone would be doing it too.
So I applaud you.
Most likely you want more for your life, possibly want to provide a better quality of life to those that are closest to you and the list goes on for your why’s in you actually starting your own business in the first place.
Now, as you’re reading this, there’s a high probability that you’re concerned about where your business is currently at or where it’s headed.
Or maybe you’re just venturing into entrepreneurship and are doing some due diligence on what not to do from the very beginning.
Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
This is a good thing.
It shows me that you are responsible and actually care about the path you are pursuing (your business).
So let me be a resource to you.
I’m here to share with you some very important warning signs that could potentially lead to business disaster if nothing changes.
If you notice any of these qualities within yourself, quickly change them to turn your business in the right direction or you might as well start working on plan B.
1) Perfection, Perfection, Perfection
If you are one of those people who always needs everything to be perfect in order to proceed forward, you are self sabotaging yourself and your business.
Sometimes good enough is good enough.
Taking action is key in running and operating a successful business and if you stunt yourself by waiting until every moment is perfect, you’ll never proceed forward.
Perfection is an illusion and it crushes success, so if you’re thriving on this, Stop It!
2) Fear & Procrastination Taking Over
In business, we usually know what truly needs to be done on a daily basis, but resist it at times.
So why do we avoid completing certain tasks?
Brian Tracy has a great report on this called “Eat That Frog.”
“To Eat that Frog, is a time management term that means to do your worst task first. Every morning organize your tasks, and choose the biggest and worst tasks to to do first. By doing this you will eliminate the opportunity to push it back through out the day and not complete it. Eating that Frog with help you achieve all of your goals more efficiently and enable you to have better prioritization habits.” – Brian Tracy
Aside from eating your daily frog, I recommend finding the value of what actually needs to get done.
And respect this action.
Sometimes we find ourselves avoiding because we don’t like the task at hand, but if you can change your thinking around and find value and respect in the action of what needs to get done, you’ll be pushed more to complete the tasks at hand.
Think of the meaning behind the tasks needing to get completed.
If you accomplish daily what needs to get completed, how will your life change? Who in your life will benefit? Where will this task lead your business?
Put passion into the task at hand and get going!
3) Overwhelm
At this point on your entrepreneurial path, you might be feeling overwhelm.
I get it.
You have a lot of tasks at hand, trying to balance everything and everyone and you feel as though you are about to lose it.
For whatever reasons, overwhelm is common.
The key is to recognize it and move through it quickly.
Whenever overwhelm comes into play, take a step back and remind yourself of WHY you started in the first place.
Really remind yourself of your “why.”
Our own personal stories can oftentimes re-motivate us and makes us remember why we started on this entrepreneurial journey in the first place.
Reconnect with your own story, breathe and change it around.
4) Everything Becomes Last MinuteÂ
No preparation or organization is occurring a lot lately.
You might be feeling that your zest for this lifestyle journey is not as strong as it was when you first began.
Mostly everything is being implemented last minute without much thought going into it.
This lack of motivation or procrastination can be felt by the people you are trying to attract to your business.
Every minute you procrastinate is another minute you could actually be enhancing your business, leading you that much closer to your goal.
Keep this in mind and map out a plan of action.
What needs to get done and by when?
Plus, think of what your life would be like if all of the benefits you are receiving from your entrepreneurial pursuit would be taken away.
Get organized and real about the time it can take for even just one task to be completed and get back on course.
5) Feeling of Inadequacy Due To Overwhelm of Choosing Something So Risky/Challenging
Okay, so you’re on this path.
You might be panicking right now a bit due to choosing something that might have been way over your head.
Family/friends’ comments might be getting to you or things not happening fast enough might actually be getting you to question everything you just invested your time and money into.
As we grew up, being validated became a normal thing to feel and have happen to us.
So in a way, when things are not going our way plus we have lack of validation, things just don’t feel right.
Remind yourself that this is your fear trying to get you to remain on the path of convenience and what you naturally know as “normal.”
This risk you took on yourself might be way out of your comfort zone and in a way feels foreign, so naturally you would want that feeling to dissipate.
I’m here to tell you that this feeling of inadequacy is normal.
I always remind my clients to re-focus and think of small tasks at hand that you can accomplish.
This is because when you think of the entire picture of what you’re actually attempting to design, create, fulfill and evolve, you could easily freak yourself out into panic and want to run in the opposite direction.
Small tasks lead to your end result, remember that.
Keep repeating what you need to get done, and soon enough, you’ll be much further in the process of where you are now and also will have naturally passed over that overwhelming inadequate stage.
So there you have it! 🙂
All in all, these warning signs are good indicators that your business could potentially be in danger.
If you notice any of these habits or qualities within yourself, change them immediately and get back on your entrepreneurial path.
And remember, you took a big risk in what you’re doing now.
There might even be other people counting on you as well.
Lead every day with your WHY and keep proceeding forward! 🙂
